Ground Cherry (aka Husk Cherry)- Physalis pruinosa

A ground cherry is a sweet yellow-orange fruit that is fully enclosed in a husk, similar to a tomatillo, but much smaller. They can be eaten raw or prepared in jams, jellies, pies, and sauces. They can even be dried. They have a tropical taste like a mix of pineapple and mango. Harvest fruit only after it drops to the ground, when it’s ripe and delicious. Immature fruit are not tasty.
